Privacy Policy for mynderMail
1. Introduction
mynderMail ("we", "our", or "us") is an Android app that helps you quickly send emails to yourself.
We respect your privacy and aim to be clear about what data the app handles, how it is used, and what control you have.
mynderMail stores your information locally on your device. We do not operate any backend servers for this app, and we do not store your personal data on our own infrastructure.
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The following information is stored only on your device as part of normal app functionality:
- Email drafts and message content
- Sent message history (according to your retention settings)
- Unsent/queued or failed messages
- App preferences and settings (theme, notifications, history limits, etc.)
- Quick action configurations (labels, emojis, recipient modifiers)
- Your chosen recipient email address and selected Google account
You can delete this data at any time using the in-app options or by uninstalling the app.
2.2 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not:
- Collect or transmit your email content to our servers (we have none)
- Read or access your Gmail inbox or messages
- Access your contacts
- Track your behavior or usage across apps or websites
- Use advertising identifiers or analytics services
- Sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes
2.3 Crash Reporting (Optional)
Crash reporting is optional and off by default.
On the startup screen, you can choose whether to enable crash reporting. Unless you explicitly turn it on, crash reporting remains disabled.
If you choose to enable crash reporting:
- We use Sentry to collect crash reports and diagnostic information
- Sentry may collect technical data such as:
- Device model and operating system version
- App version
- Error messages and stack traces
- Non-resettable device identifiers used only for debugging
- Sentry does not receive your email content, message history, drafts, or subject lines
- Sentry does not receive your Google account password or tokens
You can turn crash reporting on or off at any time in the app settings.
For more information about how Sentry handles data, see:
3. Google Account and Gmail API
3.1 Permissions
mynderMail uses Google OAuth to authenticate your Google account and the Gmail API to send emails.
We request only the minimum necessary permission:
- Send emails on your behalf (Gmail API send scope)
We do not request permission to:
- Read your emails
- Access or modify labels
- Access your contacts
- Modify your account settings
- Access your inbox or message history
3.2 How Your Google Account Information Is Used
- OAuth tokens are stored securely on your device using Android’s secure storage mechanisms (e.g., EncryptedSharedPreferences).
- Tokens are used only to send emails that you explicitly compose or share via mynderMail.
- Emails are sent directly via Google’s secure Gmail API and do not pass through our servers.
- We do not access, log, or view the content of your emails.
Your use of the Gmail API is also subject to Google’s policies, including the Google Privacy Policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
4. How We Use Your Information
4.1 Local App Functionality
We use the data stored on your device solely to provide core app features, including:
- Composing, saving, and sending emails to yourself (or configured quick action recipients)
- Managing history and queued messages
- Restoring drafts when you reopen the app
- Applying your preferences (theme, notifications, share behavior, etc.)
- Managing quick action buttons and labels
4.2 Email Sending
- When you tap send (or a quick action), the app constructs the email using your input.
- The first line typically becomes the subject; the rest becomes the body (as described in the app).
- Emails are sent as HTML via Gmail’s API directly from your Google account.
- We do not intercept or store your message content.
4.3 Tips and Hints in Email Body
The app may optionally append tips or hints to the bottom of your email (for example, feature tips or review nudges).
These tips are:
- Generated locally on your device
- Appended only to emails that you send
- Not transmitted to us or any other third party
5. Data Retention
5.1 Local Data Retention
- Drafts are retained until you send or delete them.
- Sent messages may be stored in the app’s history, depending on your configured retention limit (0, 1, 10, 100, or 1000 messages).
- Unsent (queued or failed) messages remain visible in history until they are sent or deleted.
- You can delete individual messages or clear all stored messages in the app.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data.
5.2 Account Data
- OAuth tokens are stored on your device to allow sending emails.
- You can sign out at any time, which removes stored OAuth tokens from the app.
- Signing out does not delete your message history or app preferences; those remain until you delete them or uninstall the app.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we rely on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Consent – for optional crash reporting using Sentry.
- Performance of a Contract – to send emails that you request through the app.
- Legitimate Interests – for basic app functionality, security, and local storage of settings and messages on your device.
7. Your Rights
7.1 Access
- You can view all your drafts, sent messages (subject to your retention settings), and unsent/queued messages in the app’s history or main interface.
- You can access your app preferences, quick actions, and other settings in the Settings screen.
7.2 Deletion
- You can delete individual messages from history.
- You can clear all messages or perform a “Factory Reset” (if available) to remove all app data.
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data stored by mynderMail.
7.3 Control
- You can enable or disable crash reporting at any time in Settings.
- You can change your history retention limits, theme, notification preferences, and quick action configuration.
- You can revoke mynderMail’s access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account settings.
7.4 Requests Under GDPR or Similar Laws
Because we do not store your personal data on our servers, most requests (access, correction, deletion) can be fulfilled directly by using the app or uninstalling it.
If you have questions or need assistance, you can contact us at app@uxiomatic.com, and we will respond within the time frames required by applicable law (typically within 30 days).
8. CCPA Disclosures (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights.
In the context of mynderMail:
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We only share limited technical crash data with Sentry if you opt in to crash reporting.
You may:
- Access the personal information stored in the app by viewing your messages, drafts, and settings.
- Delete the personal information stored in the app by deleting messages, using any reset features, or uninstalling the app.
Because we do not store any server-side copies of your data, we do not need to verify your identity beyond what is already available on your device.
9. International Data Transfers
If you enable crash reporting, crash data may be processed by Sentry in the United States or other countries.
Sentry implements appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), to protect your data during international transfers.
We do not transfer or store your personal data on our own servers.
All other data used by mynderMail remains on your device and is not transmitted to us.
10. Children's Privacy
mynderMail is not intended for children under 13 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because we do not run any servers, we do not maintain server-side records about users of any age.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date and version number at the top of this page.
You are encouraged to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how mynderMail handles data.
